Hiddink being Targeted
According to this article the current Australian Coach is being persued by the Russian National Team.
Hiddink's contract with Australia lasts until the world cup finals, so that at least covers us up until then. That is not my concern though. Australia needs a top coach. Just because we have reached the world cup, doesn't mean Australian soccer has reached its peak.
In order to become a strong soccer nation, we need someone at the helm that not only know soccer, but is willing to put in hard yards is making sure the players playing in Australia are developing to the point where we will make the next world cup.
Not enough focus is placed on players in Australia. Everybody assumes, if you are good, you go overseas. I suppose thats why we have the A-League now. We need to have the National Coach working with the A-League, strengthening the tallent pool and bulstering the Australian National Team.
